EmuGUI documentation

EmuGUI compatibility list

EmuGUI is a program that you need to test. That's why compatibility lists exist. These OS listings are categorized into OS groups.

Microsoft operating systems

Note: A list of tutorials is available here .

Operating system Architecture Working Notes
Windows 95 C i386 Yes
Windows NT 4.0 Workstation Service Pack 1 MIPS64el Yes Needs external BIOS, you can get it here . Rename NTPROM.RAW to mipsel_bios.bin and copy that file onto the root of EmuGUI.

Windows NT 4.0 Workstation Service Pack 6a i386 Yes Use only 256 colours if you don't want to have mouse problems.
Windows 98 Second Edition i386 Partially If the bootscreen hangs, use VirtualBox, boot Windows in Safe Mode, shut it down and get back to EmuGUI.
Generally, special procedures have to be done to get Windows 98 running.
Do NOT add a sound card to an already installed VM or else you will render it unusable.

Mac operating systems

Note: I am not a lawyer but I do know that it violates the End User License Agreement (EULA) from Apple. However, some German tech magazines like GIGA or PC-WELT (Yes, I'm German) wrote articles on how to install macOS on VirtualBox on a Windows machine and therefore I can say that Apple can't enforce that. A article about this situation is here. If you are at all unsure, please check the copyright laws of your country.

Operating system Architecture Working Notes
Mac OS X 10.5 Snow Leopard PowerPC No I don't know how to deal with that! If you can help, support is appreciated.

SUSE-based Linux distributions

Operating system Architecture Working Notes
openSUSE Leap 15.4 Aarch64 No Installation is impossible.
openSUSE Tumbleweed Aarch64 Partially The best results come from the preinstalled Xfce image. However, there are mouse issues and you can only navigate with the keyboard.
